Date: April 17, 2025 03:22 PM

  • This training, hosted by Sahiyo U.S. and the U.S. End FGM/C Network, will explore the complex power dynamics at play across multiple societal levels, from individual to institutional structures, that impact how FGM/C is understood, addressed, and prevented. The session will be facilitated by Healing Equity United, an organization specializing in power dynamics, systemic inequities, and social justice. Using case studies, storytelling, and discussion, participants will gain deeper insight into how power operates within relationships, systems, and policies affecting FGM/C survivors and their communities.

By the end of the session, participants will:
    • Have a better understanding of how FGM/C impacts relationships and power structures from individual to institutional levels
    • Gain insights that will allow them to recognize and better navigate the power dynamics that arise within families, communities, and institutions

Target Audience: Healthcare professionals, social workers, community leaders, educators, advocates, law enforcement and legal professionals, and anyone interested in understanding and addressing FGM/C.
